I have a mirror site, so to speak, of my Lush stories on tumblr currently, but I am beginning to be a little disenchanted with them. There are some bugs and problems that I can't seem to get help on, and I am thinking of moving my mirror site to Wordpress. Apparently, there is a way to move the whole tumblr site over to Wordpress which, with over 500 stories there would be amazing!

I am just wondering if there is anyone here that uses Wordpress and how they like it. Do you put stories on Wordpress? I am just curious and exploring options. I don't plan on leaving Lush, don't worry about that. I am just looking for another site to "back up" my stories and maybe publish some storeis too "hot" for Lush!

I've set up basic WP sites for some authors here in the past, and some family members.

I have never done it, but you can import from Tumblr this way: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-tumblr/

The import and export features, to save your entire WP blog though, has never worked properly for me, so I wouldn't expect it to work flawlessly.

Good luck!

Maybe we need an "Import from LS" WP addon made?

I don't use Wordpress, but I do use a sausage press. LOL

Seriously though, I do use Velvet9.com. It is a small, totally free, easy to join site mainly for posting stories and possibly meeting like minded people. There is very seldom more that 3 to 5 people on line there at one time. I also use SwingLifeStyle.com to post stories. Claims to be the largest lifestyle site on the net. There are thousands and thousands of stories posted there. The free membership will allow you to post and read stories, and check out a limited amount of profiles daily profiles.

Neither site is anywhere near as stringent as Lush on punctuation and other writing rules.

I also back up my stories by emailing them to myself and Hubbie.

I use WordPress every day, although self-hosted sites and not accounts on WordPress.com.

I designed and launched my own at:

https://www.lizerotica.co.uk/

I even did Dancing_Doll's a while ago:

http://www.ashleighlake.com/

I'm probably up to 50+ now as I do it freelance and cover everything from graphic design, to SEO, to SSL implementation, and so on. If you're thinking of running your own WordPress website and need any help feel free to drop me a line.

Yes: https://wordpress.com/post/rdl3489.wordpress.com/5062

Feel free to add me if you are on there (applies to other Lush users as well).

I also suggest Medium to share your writing. It's a great website and there is a large supportive erotic writing community thriving on there. My username on there is Raven DeLajour.

I see what you are talking here about. I don't know how professional will be from my point of view to say that I hate WordPress, but I will try to explain why. First of all, I see that a lot of rookies are using it and they really think that they know how to create a website. Come on now, it’s nothing hard to create a WordPress website. It amuses me really bad when someone is trying to install a plugin like https://stylemixthemes.com/consulting/, this one, due to its 32 bis structure is ruining the whole WP project and those code writers are like OMG, what happened right now? Go and learn how to create a proper website, that’s what happened.

Where can I find some more feedback?

As the OP started this thread 3 years ago it would appear any further discussion at this point is moot, however...

You hate WordPress because it's easy for "rookies" (read: people with no coding experience) to use? It's supposed to be. It's a CMS (Content Management System). That is literally the point of it.

WordPress is a fantastic CMS. It is wasn't, it wouldn't be being used by more than 60 million websites, including 39% of the top 10 million websites as of January 2021 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WordPress).

Also, the link you provided is for a theme that is bundled with plugins such as Elementor and WPBakery, which are awesome.

"...due to its 32 bis structure is ruining the whole WP project and those code writers are like OMG, what happened right now?"

This is just nonsensical gibberish.

I like working with wordpress. It was a fun challenge for my basic scripting skills. Pretty easy to set up for a paid monthly tier. I don't like having adds on my site.

"The Punished Nonpartisan" <- Extreme BDSM and humiliation story. Heavy on plot. Served on a plate of political drama with a side of domestic terror. Currently Free download.

Jocelyn the Wicked <- futanari, fantasy fan fic, and some tentacles that escaped the laboratory

Bugs can be a real buzzkill, especially when you're trying to showcase your stories. Moving over to Wordpress sounds like a solid plan, especially if you've got a ton of content to transfer.I don't personally use Wordpress for stories, but I've heard good things about it from mates who do. It's got some nifty features for publishing content, and the whole Tumblr migration thing sounds like a game-changer, right? If you're keen on exploring options, check out Frogstone Media. They're ace at managing and even developing sites, which could save you a heap of hassle. Here's the link: https://www.frogstonemedia.com/
