I am dropping in to wish my lovely wife a very happy birthday. I hope you all will join us for her very special day.

Simplicity, every day I try and fail to imagine loving you more than I do at that moment, yet each day my love only grows. You are my light in the dark, my muse in the silence and my safe harbor in the storm. The phrase ’I love you’ is unworthy of my respect and admiration, my desire and love for you. Never once have I doubted you, and I will always be there to hold you in my arms.

Happy Birthday, my love.

Hi, Milik. I just wanted to say you are one of my favorite writers. I am also a goal-setter and am trying for my prolific badge ... very hard to get there. I learned by reading your stories... especially the last couple ... to work harder in those uncomfy categories. I saw you didn't just throw sh*t out there to get in the other categories, but put effort into each one. As far as comps ... it is subjective. Most of entries will be grammatically, technically good. So, really it is just what storyline captured the interest of the judges. Every entry is terrific.

Write for you! Please yourself (and your lovely wife smile ) and your story was worth writing. So are so close to that badge ... take a break if needed ... then come get it!!! Even if you don't have it forever ... take a picture of when you did have it and be very very proud of yourself! Even with the prolific, you and Simmie are in a very select group to have accomplished that badge! I applaud you both. Some of these categories are fucking hard to write in. You inspire me. Take Ping-a-ling's medical fetish title he suggested and write an amazing story :)

Thank you for the kind thoughts, Kimmie. I think I’ll be taking that break.

See you all around when I return.

Congratulations to the winners and everyone who made the top 10. I should have liked to see Bethany and Simplicity up there as well. They both had great entries

Lol, we are TOTALLY derailing this thread, but I think you misunderstand. This isn’t a complaint. As I said, I’m in support of new content. This new category I’m sure has many who would find it interesting. I’m just not one of them. I’ve written in several I found disinteresting or even personally distasteful in pursuit of that badge and it has simply dawned on me that it is a Sisyphean task in that no matter how far I push that rock it will ultimately roll back down the hill.

As you say, I could write seven hundred to a thousand words and nab it tomorrow, but to me, that’s a cheat. I will never just mail one in. That would kind of invalidate it to me. And you are right, I haven’t entered all the contests but I have, especially with my last 2 and the historical contest, put in what I have to consider my best personal efforts. To me, that’s enough to be happy with it. I am very involved with my work and it is kind of crushing to be Lush’s contest ‘bridesmaid.’ It takes a toll and I am just not certain how much longer I am willing to pay.

Anyway, sorry to all. I hadn’t meant to rain gloom here. Just having a friendly convo with my friend G.

Wrongo Dude. Keep your eyes on that competition prize. When the med category was added, I thought of you. I thought you’d be pissed.

However, think of it this way... you are only two stories away. A far cry from most everyone except your fellow omnium badgers. Write the damn stories, get your damn badge, and quit your damn whining. It’s not like Admin is intentionally adding categories to prevent you from getting your damn badge. That’s something I would do.

You can thank me for the tough love later.

And when another category or two gets added, you’ll write the damn story or stories to stay omni-current. The new category, like every new category, will challenge the always-striving-to-be-a-better-writer in you.

So... git ‘er dun.

And someday soon we’ll see you on top of that podium.

Oh, I’m not pissed, and I understand the need to add content. If anything I’m frustrated with myself for putting so much into writing in so many different styles and themes when the chase itself was ill advised. As far as the contests go, I felt I wrote some fine entries but hey, no one is entitled to win.

No, I’m not upset or angry. I’m just... weary of it all. Ten years is a long time to be mentally involved in something like this and I feel now that my time has past. I’m very seriously considering a very extended break. Even the last few months I’ve been busy haven’t brought the edge back, so maybe it’s just time to walk away.

I DO, or at least did have the badge and have lost it once again. I feel that this badge no longer means what it did the first time I earned it. In real life, people who win medals or awards don't get them taken away because the rules of the sport or game have changed. I understand why Nicola doesn't want to create a new omnium type badge every time they add another category(ies), but it really is frustrating to keep seeing the badge disappear. I had suggested at one point, instead of the omnium badge, it get replaced with a Category 10, 20, 30, etc badge. Nicola even had a design for it. But it never surfaced. Instead, a Prolific Writer badge got instituted to indicate 80% of the categories have been covered. But that is another badge that can disappear when new categories are added.

If there was a Category level badge instead, unless the author themselves deleted a story, the badge would never go away. Once you reached that level, it would always be achieved. the badge could include the total number of categories completed (similar to the author badge which shows the total number of stories). That way, anyone could tell at a glance how many categories had been completed and when they reached the level 50 badge, a 54 or 55 total (currently) would indicate the equivalent of the omnium badge. (The Incest Fantasy is an optional category to be awarded the onmium badge.) Perhaps if that number is achieved, the number could display in a different color like gold or red.

There is a lot here but I tend to agree. I was ( again ) one story away from my Omnium and now that’s not going to happen. I realize now it’s a transient goal so my pursuit of it was futile from the beginning.

New genres are going to come. The site needs to keep things fresh. I don’t blame anyone for adding content because without it the site won’t survive. That said, setting the Omnium as a personal goal was probably a mistake and led me to write in some categories that were far less popular for no real gain. At this point I really have winning a contest as my only remaining goal and that has proven so elusive over the years that I likely won’t pursue it much farther either.

You're such a diplomat.

Anything to earn a comment my friend. It’s a cold dark work out there. There is no shame in my game

Hi Milik. I hope my comment didn’t imply that I’ll never again read any stories by an author just because they didn’t respond to my comment. I’ve read different stories simply because the author is a talented writer and I enjoy their words, even though I’ve never received a response. As you stated, a response is appreciated, but it’s also true that we all have day-to-day responsibilities that interfere with our time here.

Not at all. Your comments are always very in-depth and I very much enjoy reading them. I do feel badly for my recent neglecting but I assure you I will. My time is often limited and now is one of those when I can pop in but not much more. Never the less, I do thank you for the time you take
Internet Philosopher
I always leave a comment and appreciate a response but it isn’t necessary. I try to always return it but my schedule is hectic and it takes me awhile sometimes. I have quite a few at the moment that are waiting longer than usual and I do apologize for that but I will get to them
Internet Philosopher
Jonathan, take your time getting to my comp entry. The main thing is that you feel better soon.

Bill, Kat, Curvy, Thanks for reading. I tried hard to get it out with time left

If no one minds, I'll pin up a link here on the wall.

I have read a few awesome entries so far. Beffers was incredibly written, but our regulars here have so great ones. These contests are always touch.

Kat, Jonathan, Kimmiebegood, and Road Runner for excellent pieces.

Of course, my own Simplicity has one no one should miss. Its a fantastic story. Im totally adding a link for her.

Also, Darkside and L8lastnight have wonderful entries.

Okay, coffee. I am working on a gay story about Baseball that will go in the Uniform category. That is my last one for my Omnium. Should be done in a few days if I can find time to write.
Internet Philosopher
Happy Monday, ladies and gents.

I just submitted my contest entry, so there is that. This weekend flew by but all I did was screw around. Now I have a whole week of catching up to do. I will have a coffee, Bill.
Internet Philosopher
I was wondering;

Why did the lights go out in Georgia when they hung that innocent man?

I lose sleep over these things sometimes.

Sounds like a reason to have drink. Make it a double, will ya?
Internet Philosopher
I am lounging in my recliner, feeling like a king, quite frankly. Ive got a fresh cup of jo next to me and i am waiting for my lovely wife to join me for a quiet and care free evening. Simmie made a wondeful Mexican dinner and I am stuffed full.

I will have a nice brandy, Bill. Time for some much needed relaxation.
Internet Philosopher
Breathing, lol.

Seriously, I’m 56 and my interest hasn’t waned. In the words of Toby Keith, I ain’t as good as I once was but I’m as good once as I ever was...

So, this is what a morning looks like? Been a while since I’ve seen one

Jonathan, it’s good to see you around these parts. Morning Buz. Same to you.

Curvy, Tonya, hope you are both well. Ping, when are you gonna post something new?

Verbal, I’m looking forward to opening day already. I’m a Halo ? fan but even though we haven’t had much success lately I do get to watch Trout play often. That guy is already one of the all-time greats.

Bill, can you spike the coffee with something that smells like rubbing alcohol? Need something strong this rainy Saturday morning.
Internet Philosopher
I’ll take you up on that drink, Bill. Make it a double of whatever swill you’re hiding under the bar.

I also have it on good authority that Verbs is paying this month, so feel free to put Pings tab on him. He won’t mind.fpedxXxewxuv4oIV

Left work early tonight. I had an eye infection and couldn’t see staying my whole shift. Now I’m sitting at the table with Simmie listening to the melodic tones of Farmville on her iPad. Ain’t married life grand?

Make that another double Bill. In the words of Lonesome George, I’m getting lit tonight.

Internet Philosopher
Stumbling in on this beautiful morning... grumbles something incoherent about Bertha and shitty coffee...

Oh god finally Friday. Glad to hear you get to see LJ verbs. I don’t think I could make it without Simplicity around.

Fuzzy, I agree we need to get to know one another.

Scott, I do when I get the chance. That is the nice part of having my own office. I’m about 3400 words in but the voice and dialog to this one is very specific to a time period so writing it is a bitch. I’ve been in a bit of a writing mood though and managed to put out a couple over the last couple months.

Good morning to our fine ladies. Glad Kat and Tonya are improving .

Sounds like a good day for a Mexican coffee...
Internet Philosopher
Daisy, Vanessa, Tonya. Nice to see you ladies. You too, Katherine. I haven’t seen you around much, but then I’ve been away so there is that. Good luck with the house hunting. If I never move again it will be too soon.

I’m trying to finish my contest piece this weekend. It’s either really good or sucks horribly. I haven’t made up my mind in that. Simmie loves it so far but she is horribly biased.

It’s 2:am and I’m killing time at work. Think I’ll check out Bertha and see if there are any warm grounds in there.

Now, donuts. Yes. I need donuts...
Internet Philosopher
Yes, as others have said, I can loose several hours writing when I’m in the grove. I can also struggle with every word at times, making each minute seem to last for hours. It all depends on how easily the story is coming.
Internet Philosopher
Good morning all!

Yeah well it’s morning to me. Working so late makes the world feel different that’s for sure. Glad you are feeling better, Tonya. Kat, careful with that ear. Flying after something like that is scary!

Grace, Verbs, quitting smoking is a real victory.

I’ll have some of that coffee, Bill. Need to kick start my day
Internet Philosopher
Good morning Curvy. I’m just stopping in for my nightcap. Working graveyard has my schedule standing on its head. I’m getting near the end of my comp entry so I may yet beat the deadline.

Y’all have a good day. I’ll check back when the sun is high overhead.

If she walks in though you'll be in tons of trouble...

Hope everyone is doing good, Doesn't appear it though? Seriously winter is like a cursed season if its not bad enough that its fucking freezing cold it wants to bring you down in every way possible.

I'm still dragging on my comp entry, I seriously have been without motivation to do anything but sleep and dream for what feels like months now.

I could use a serious and dangerous amount of caffeine, So just feel free to inject it into my veins.

I told her I was at the library
Truthfully, I’d never smoke around her. I used to smoke cigars and cigarettes and before quitting those. I actually gave up Vaping just before I brought her out here. Now, look at me. Tobacco free due to love. Amazing.
Internet Philosopher
A lot of my stories have truth in them. Many more have snippets borrowed from real life. I’ve only written a few that were basically auto-biographical. My first time stories are as close to truth as I can get.
Internet Philosopher
Verbal, I’ll take a double on your tab then. I’m not worried. Bill will have to collect from you, no
Problemo, amigo.

Went outside last night to see if Beetlejuice had exploded yet. The interweb keeps saying it’s gonna blow any time between now and a hundred-thousand years. I wish I could be that vague with my job estimates.

Hmm Simmie isn’t here. Thank I’ll find a good cigar...
Internet Philosopher
Well, I married one, so there is that

Edit. I’m not who I pretend to be. I’m not a middle aged man, I’m 28 year old female and former cheerleader with an incredible figure and big Pom Poms. I just pretend to be an old guy to fool people
