I'm a big panty fan, ok, ok, a panty-fetishist, I'll admit that. I love panties and pictures of women in panties. I love the materials, patterns, colors, cuts, etc. and how they accentuate/embellish the female form.

On the question of cuts, I often wonder how you choose panties to:

a) Feel comfortable
b) Look sexy
c) A combination of both

And which cuts you consider the optimal choice... Aside from those days...

The fact that you're a mass-murderer? I mean, an ex or two buried under the patio isn't such a big deal but if you're responsible for more than that, it could give your partner the impression that you're not too good at relationships.

My experience has been that for the most part people rate my stories with a 4 or 5, with a short comment about how 'hot' they are or how much that person enjoyed reading them. There are, however, some people who vote my stories down, with a rating of 3 (it's almost always a 3) and very little explanation as to why they didn't enjoy the story as much as everyone else.

Here is the typical profile of the 3-giver:

1) They rarely have an avatar, preferring to use the default male/female white shape on a red background.
2) They either joined Lush 3-5 years ago and haven't read / voted on any previous stories, or they joined Lush recently and haven't voted on any previous stories.
3) They have no friends or only a very few friends.
4) They have not written any stories, or have written just a couple of stories for which they have an average score of 4 or below.
5) They have not participated or have rarely participated in the forums.
6) Their profile is barely completed, with no images, no galleries...
7) They often pop up to cast their vote when a story is garnering too much attention and getting too many good scores.
8) They cast a vote of 3 with a comment of "undefined" (very often) or a vague comment like "it deserves a solid 3".

I can't say that I have a complete profile of the 3-giver, but I can say that I know for a fact that some people (often authors themselves) have created multiple fake accounts for the sole purpose of voting down other author's stories. Whatever the case, whenever I receive a score of 3 or less, I look firstly at the comment the voter has left and then at their profile. Thus far, in 100% of cases, I can trace it back to one or a combination of the 8 scenarios outlined above. Not all of them are other authors, of course. Sometimes they are simply people who have no clue how to rate a story or who just didn't appreciate what they read. We can't force people to make meaningful comments, although it would be interesting to try.

After having been active for 5 years on Lush, I'm pretty confident I can tell when there's a rat on the loose, and despite having to take the hit for their often spur-of-the-moment voting down of a story that is doing really well, blocking the rogues one by one will eventually lead to more accurate scores and hopefully more insightful comments.

P.S. I don't systematically block people who score my story a 3 or less, but I do evaluate their comments and look at their profile to determine my level of confidence with their feedback.

Thanks Nicola. Indeed, when people delete their account the scores and comments disappear correctly. I've been seeing the "undefined" comment issue ever since I turned on that option at least a few months ago as well as over the past couple of weeks. It has happened several times. The latest one is from someone who posted comments on other people's stories and yet the comment on mine just says undefined. I think there must be some sort of bug (he he, I'm rooting for the Bug Slayer badge ).

If Gav needs more information, I can give him some examples.

Hello,

Every so often, but regularly enough to be a concern, I receive a vote on my stories with the comment "undefined". At first I thought that people were circumventing the need to comment when voting by entering that word. However, seeing as it is consistently the same word and always in lower case, I have come to believe that there is something wrong with the option to force readers to comment when voting. Either their comments are being dropped, or there is a way to avoid commenting altogether. Please could you let me know why this is happening?

Thanks,

Lars.

I have updated the amazon page parser so hopefully it will successfully add your eBook now.

It works perfectly now. Thanks very much Gav.

Just wondering if there's any update on this... I tried again today and I'm still getting the same result.

I've found that using the British (amazon.co.uk) link works but doesn't provide the clickable title for the ebook entry. However, the picture is still clickable. This might be a useful work-around for you.

Thanks Abigail. That's a good start. I'm looking forward to it also being fixed for the US. smile

Hi Liz,

Firstly, sorry for posting in the wrong section. I didn't realize there was a separate Help Desk section.

One of the options under Settings - More options - is Manage Your eBooks. There, you are supposed to be able to provide a link to books that you have published on Amazon or Smashwords.

The direct link to that page is: https://www.lushstories.com/membership/Details/your-ebooks.aspx?s=ebooks (That would be for you to upload your ebooks).

My ebook link is http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010679KJS

When I post that into the box, it tells me "Unable to parse image from url"

I did also sent this request for help through the Contact Us, but I have not heard back from anyone, hence posting to the forum.

Thanks,

Lars.

I've been trying to post my ebook (on Amazon) here on Lush, but I keep getting an error message "Unable to parse image from url". Can someone please help?

Thanks,

Lars.

Milik,

What is the vault, please? I've been here five years and I'm feeling like a newb, with talk of Lush Publishing and vaults!

Edit: I have found the vault, but how does it work? You can PM me if it is easier.

Thanks,

GW.

Frank,

Thanks again. That's great news about the name change as it will make things a whole lot easier to cross-pollinate. I will see what gives with regard to poetry. I tend to write humoristic poetry, very light-hearted and borderline silly. I will be sure to mention this in the book description, in case anyone is looking for real poetry smile

I may well take you up on asking for more advice as I navigate through the options of self-publishing / getting published. I need all the help I can get, for sure!

Cheers,

GW.

I usually write my stories in one stroke (pun intended). As others have said, there are no real rules. However, in my humble opinion, a well-written story flows naturally and builds momentum, whether sexual or not. This is not something that can be achieved by applying a formula but rather comes from experience. The technique I use most is to tease the reader several times before getting to the actual sex scene. This can be done by dropping hints of what might come, or by telling little side stories about the character, for example. Having said all that, I sometimes get the complaint that there wasn't enough sex (i.e. I ran out of steam and hurried the sex, lol), but I've never had anyone complain that there was too much sex. Go figure!

Frank,

Thanks very much for the sound advice. There are two goals main I would like to achieve.

I really want to get away from the name "GirlyWorld" and use a more normal / neutral sounding pen name moving forward. It would be great if I could use the same name both here and on Amazon. Perhaps that can be changed here on Lush without losing all my history?

My second goal is to start building a reputation on Amazon, which I realize will be difficult, but I guess we all need to start somewhere. To this end, I want to publish 20 of my 22 poems as a single volume because they receive a lot less readership than my short stories, and I think it would be a good way to test the waters.

Of course, I would be also interested in hearing more about how Lush Publishing works, so if you have a link or wouldn't mind sending me a brief message about it, that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Metilda,

I'll check out the story on KU, thanks. As for the poems, they have already been deleted, but hopefully I will never have to resubmit them anyway.

Thanks again to both of you for your help!

Hi Nicola,

Thanks very much for the comprehensive answer. I will need to look into the Kindle options more carefully to determine if I go for paid or free, especially as this will be my first release.

Cheers,

GW.

Some of what I consider to be my best work is the least read, and some of my run-of-the-mill stories get tons of views and loads of comments for no apparent reason. Having been an author on here for over five years, I can tell you that at least part of the popularity of particular story comes down to the luck of the draw. Of course, there are important factors such as the author's following, the genre, the appeal of the title, the opening sentences, the one-liner description, the keywords, as well as how many other similar stories are published at the same time. In any case, I'm always jubilant when someone finds one of my old stories (or poems) that has hardly been read and makes a positive comment. It just wouldn't make any sense to start trying to apply numerical or other logic to try filtering out the good from the bad. Aside from anything else, what one reader appreciates is not necessarily the same as another. Writers have their styles and readers have their tastes. Let it be!
Active Ink Slinger
Has anyone removed one or more of their stories here for sale on Amazon? I'm intending on writing / selling on Amazon, but I have some stories here that I would like to delete here and publish under another name on KDP. Anything TOS / legal-wise wrong with that?

Thanks,

GW.
Active Ink Slinger
I would recommend you read some of mine. If not for the sexual orientation, you might enjoy the style. If not for the style, you might enjoy the story. If not for the story, oh fuck it, you might not like my writing, but that's ok.
Active Ink Slinger
I'm with insomniac on this one, except that I never even read the bible.

What's the premise of your question?

Typically I tend to go for the slim/skinny but not anorexic type. But, there are women of all shapes and sizes who can be very attractive to me and shatter that trend.

Ahh, well at least its something!

Indeed, although I suddenly remembered that I did have one girl do it to me and it was very pleasant. But, it was long ago and long forgotten until now.
Active Ink Slinger
I don't see why not. Lush is as good a place as anywhere else to meet someone. They would need to be vetted first, of course.
